Leadership Lab 2 – Questions

April 3, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I have heard it said that you can tell how much success someone will have based on the questions that they ask.  If I am going to stay sharp, humble and continue to grow…I’ve got to ask the RIGHT questions to the RIGHT people.

So, here’s my system.  I surround myself with various people who have “gone before me”.  People who I admire and respect as leaders and individuals.  I try to sit down (either in person or via email/phone) with these people periodically and ask a series of questions.

Here are some of the questions I love to ask those who’ve gone before me:

  • If you knew then what you know now, what would you do differently in ministry/life?
  • How did you/do you stay healthy (spiritually, physically, emotionally, relationally)?
  • Biggest regrets?
  • What weaknesses do you see in me? (Make sure you ask this to the right people.)
  • What are you reading that is stretching you?
  • How have you made your dreams/visions become a reality?

I would love to hear your responses to the ?’s above.  Also let me know of any ?’s I’m missing?
